This Sunday sees Manchester United host Manchester City in the penultimate game of the Women’s Super League season. The previous derby day ended in a goal-a-piece tie at the packed-out Etihad Stadium in December.
Leah Galton gave the Reds the upper hand, her link-up play with Ella Toone got the better of the hosts in the 27th minute. But it was cancelled out at the hour mark when Laura Coombs headed home Chloe Kelly’s cross. “We know Manchester City are a very good team.
It's a heavyweight contest, one big punch and the other one can be knocked out so we have to try and land those punches if we can,” said United manager Marc Skinner. “We know what threats Manchester City have, and they're very good at those.
So we have to try and limit them but also know that we can attack that back line as well. “They’re a very good team, so there's respect there, but actually on the day, you're an opponent in our way so the respect has to go out of the window.” The Reds come into the game after a devastating Vitality Women’s FA Cup result at the weekend, in their 1-0 defeat to Chelsea.
