But Record Sport understands three more Serie A sides - AC Milan, Inter Milan and Lazio - have been in contact with Ferguson’s agent, veteran dealmaker Bill McMurdo, as the race for one of the league’s most sought after talents hots up ahead of the next transfer window.McMurdo has already held discussions with Bologna after club chiefs booted out a number of January bids for the former Hamilton and Aberdeen midfielder.
And they have doubled down on the decision to hold onto their Scottish skipper in spite of soaring interest, believing Ferguson can lead their fourth placed team into European competition next season.But Napoli owner Aurielo De Laurentiis is believed to have identified Ferguson as his No.1 target ahead of a summer squad rebuild and is personally leading the bid to get his man.
It’s expected that a bid of around 25 million euros - around £21.5m - could be enough to force Bologna to the negotiating table and Juve are also prepared to match that price.The Turin giants have been chasing Ferguson since the end of last season, when he put pen to paper on a bumper contract extension at Bologna.
