An expert has warned that a common habit during the day could be a lesser-known symptom of dementia. Many of us may crave a nap during the work day, but this could be a sign of the mind becoming weaker, according to Dr Rayaz Malik.

Dementia is a condition of which there are many different causes and types as the NHS notes that it is more common in those aged 65 and older. The NHS says: "It's normal for your memory to be affected by stress, tiredness, certain illnesses and medicines.

But if you're becoming increasingly forgetful, particularly if you're over the age of 65, it's a good idea to talk to a GP about the early signs of dementia."Research has shown that there are more than 944,000 people living with dementia in the UK, reports the Mirror.

One in 11 people over the age of 65 suffer from dementia and this number is on the rise as people are living longer than ever before.By 2030, it is estimated the number of people dealing with the condition in the UK will rise over one million.
