Lanark ASC took an impressive haul of medals from the West District Group 1 Long Course Championships in East Kilbride, winning seven golds and a silver.The event was held at Dollan Aqua Centre in East Kilbride due to imminent repair work needing to be done at Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow.Evi Mackie, 15, led the way with five golds in 50m breaststroke and 50m, 100m, 200m and 800m freestyle, breaking her own club record for the 200m freestyle.Emily Taylor, 12, won gold in 100m backstroke and 1500m freestyle, and silver in 200m individual medley.Fourteen-year-olds Blair Beverley was fourth in 50m backstroke, Lucy Taylor fifth in 1500m freestyle and Orlaith Jeffrey sixth in 100m backstroke.Erin Purdon, Erin Lammie, Malcolm Ormrod and Ian Henderson also posted personal best times.Coach Karen Kelly said: “It was a solid start to the long course season, though we had a few swimmers missing due to illness.“Tollcross will be a big miss this year but we are very fortunate to have the Dollan long course facility in East Kilbride to fall back on.”Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onX via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
