King Charles’ Christmas speech in full as monarch makes subtle nod to Prince William’s work
ok.co.ukAs another year draws to a close, King Charles has once again addressed the nation in his annual King’s Speech which traditionally is broadcast around the country on Christmas Day.
This year, Charles focused much of his speech on the theme of community and praised the "selfless army of people” who he described as the “essential backbone of our society,” for their continued efforts to improve the areas in which they lived.
Interestingly, Charles also appeared to make a subtle reference to his son Prince William ’s recent conservation and environmentalism work, in particular his work with the Earthshot prize as he told the public: “To care for this creation is a responsibility owned by people of all faiths and of none.
We care for the Earth for the sake of our children’s children. “During my lifetime I have been so pleased to see a growing awareness of how we must protect the Earth and our natural world as the one home which we all share.” The monarch also chose to use his Christmas speech to make reference to the ongoing conflicts taking place around the world, as he urged listeners to “do to others as you would have them do to you.” Although no particular conflict was named, it is likely most minds will drift towards the ongoing fight between Russia and Ukraine, but also the conflict between Israel and Palestine. “At a time of increasingly tragic conflict around the World, I pray that we can also do all in our power to protect each other,” said the King.The King’s Speech in full read as follows: “Many of the festivals of the great religions of the world are celebrated with a special meal.
