Steven J. Horowitz Senior Music Writer Killer Mike is bringing his “Michael” era to a close with the upcoming digital release “Songs for Sinners & Saints,” out this Friday.

The project, billed to Killer Mike & the Mighty Midnight Revival, is intended as an epilogue to the “Michael” era and as a thank you to fans.

Some might recognize the Mighty Midnight Revival as the gospel group that he brought on his Down By Law tour for “Michael,” which earned him three Grammy wins including best rap album for “Michael” as well as best rap performance and best rap song for “Scientists & Engineers” featuring André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane. “I had a year to live with ‘Michael,’” he said in a statement, “and I realized I had more I wanted to do with this sound before moving on.” So far, Mike released the project’s first single “Humble Me,” which addressed his arrest at the Grammy Awards in February.

The 10-track “Songs for Sinners & Saints” features guest appearances from Offset, Blxst, Anthony Hamilton, Project Pat and more, and features a medley of two “Michael” songs — “Slummer” and “Something for Junkies” — reworked into one track. “Not only was I not done with the sound and feel of ‘Michael,’ I realized I might not be done with some of the songs from it as well,” he noted. “‘Slummer’ & ‘Something for Junkies’ happened in the same Universe.
