He told the Great Company with Jamie Laing podcast: "Real friendship is not the people who'll be there in the middle of the night, I mean the emergency services will do that for you. "And then the friends like like Rylan who are there when things go really well, who can you telephone that's going to sit alongside you and celebrate with unfettered joy.
That's who your mates are, right?" Meanwhile, on the same podcast last month Rylan shared his adoration for Robert, saying that he was a 'true friend'.
The pair currently star together in Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour on BBC exploring some of Italy's most iconic destinations in the first series of the show.
