Back in March, Atlanta rapper and producer Kenny Mason shared 3, a three-song EP. There wasn't a skippable song in the bunch, but the opening track "100 Or Nun" featuring Tony Shhnow would have to be the best one (though it did take some time to grow on me, as I told Shhnow during a recent episode of The FADER Interview).

Today, Mason offers a new six-track project called 6 out of nowhere. As ever, Mason continues to distinguish himself as a rebellious scion of Atlanta's trap legacy, chafing against a blind embrace of its tropes while allowing it to flow through his work. "Rich" and "Dracula" chops up classic soul in service of Mason's melodic flexing — you could hear 2 Chainz or Migos on these beats, easily — while "Side II Side" offers the Deftones-inspired sound Mason has thrived in.

The goth vibes come full circle on "Stack It Up," another track with moody alt-rock guitar on the beat; this one features Project Pat of Three 6 Mafia, the Memphis group who upended rap with their horrorcore early days and their Billboard-charting, mosh-friendly peak.

The three songs of the 3 EP are tacked on to the end of 6, bringing the total song count to damn near that of a full album. Listen below.
