Katy Perry

Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known professionally as Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and television judge. After singing in church during her childhood, she pursued a career in gospel music as a teenager.

Perry signed with Red Hill Records and released her debut studio album Katy Hudson under her birth name in 2001, which was commercially unsuccessful. She moved to Los Angeles the following year to venture into secular music after Red Hill ceased operations and she subsequently began working with producers Glen Ballard, Dr. Luke, and Max Martin.

After adopting the stage name Katy Perry and being dropped by The Island Def Jam Music Group and Columbia Records, she signed a recording contract with Capitol Records in April 2007.

Katy Perry has found herself in some hot water. Last week, the 39-year-old singer released the music video for her new song “Lifetimes,” which she was filmed in Spain’s Balearic Islands.

Then on Tuesday (August 13), Environment Department of the Balearic Islands announced in a press release that they have launched an investigation into the production of the music video, allegedly that the production company failed to obtain the proper authorization to film at the protected sand dunes of Ses Salines Natural Park. Keep reading to find out more…The Department is investigating the possibility that filming the video, directed by Stillz (aka Matias Vasquez), caused environmental damage to the beach.

In the music video, Katy, 39, can been seen dancing around in the sand dunes of S’Espalmador island, which are protected by ropes, seemingly indicating a prohibited area.

According to the press release, filming the “Lifetimes” music video in that area is not a “crime against the environment,” but rather an infringement.” The Department also noted that video production “can be authorized” through the proper channels.
