The Princess of Wales shared the heart-breaking news that she has been diagnosed with cancer on Friday, 22 March and is in the early stages of a treatment plan.
Her doctors, who Kate praised in her video message, have had the princess begin chemotherapy - but had to wait for her to regain enough strength following her abdominal surgery to begin the treatment.
A Kensington Palace spokeswoman said: "We will not be sharing any further private medical information. The Princess has a right to medical privacy, as we all do.The Princess wanted to share this information when she and The Prince felt it was right for them as a family." Kate asked the public to give her and her family some privacy while she finishes her treatment.
Experts in treating cancer, known as oncologists, often suggest patients take preventive chemotherapy to get rid of any remaining traces of the disease. This is usually done using an IV drip or tablets that go into the body through the bloodstream. This can be done in either the patient's house or a hospital. The aim of this preventive care is to stop the cancer from making a comeback.
