The Princess of Wales, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for an undisclosed form of cancer, is reportedly contemplating a surprise appearance at this year's Trooping the Colour from the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Kate has refrained from public duties this year to concentrate on her recovery. Yesterday, aides confirmed that the future Queen will not be present at the Colonel's Review on June 8, which serves as the traditional rehearsal for Trooping the Colour, scheduled for June 15.

This would have required Kate to salute on June 8 in her capacity as Colonel of the Irish Guards. However, despite her absence from the review, the Daily Mirror has reported that she may join other senior royals on the Palace balcony to witness the traditional RAF Flypast.
