Manchester United legend Roy Keane has been linked with a return to Sunderland, having hit out at 'idiots' he fell out with at the club in the past.
The highly successful midfielder made a stellar start to his coaching career with Sunderland back in 2006. He won the Championship in his first season in charge, leading the Black Cats to Premier League promotion, with some help from United loanees Danny Simpson and Jonny Evans.
In his only season as a top-flight boss, Sunderland finished 15th before being sacked in December 2008. The Championship side are looking for a new manager having parted company with Michael Beale after 12 games in charge, and placing Mike Dodds in caretaker charge.
Keane turned down the chance to return to Sunderland in February 2022 but has expressed a desire to return to management and has inevitably been linked with the job again after Beale's departure.
