A huge multi-storey car park has been built at the North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH). This comes after it was announced earlier this year that a huge transformation project on the Crumpsall hospital is set to begin in 2025, with a completion date of 2030.

The government has previously said it is ‘ready to go’ and promises to completely transform the site. The multi-million pound plans put forth by the hospital trust so far spell a complete overhaul of the Crumpsall area – including a new acute hospital, a new mental health inpatient unit, a wellbeing hub, an education hub, a new residential community, housing, commercial space and a village green. Stan Herbet, 76, said that although parking restrictions are in place on streets around the hospital between 8am and 7pm on weekdays, he says they are often ignored.

As part of the revamp, Morgan Sindall Construction has now completed the work on the new 964-space car park, as well as a Cycle Hub.
