Huge fire service response at mill after blaze breaks out

A huge fire service response was called to a blaze that erupted at a mill in Radcliffe on Wednesday evening (May 8). Nine fire engines, a technical response unit and incident command unit attended the fire at an industrial unit inside a large mill on Milltown Street at around 8.50pm.

Pictures from the scene show a number of fire crews at the scene with the road taped off. Residents reported seeing '25 emergency services vehicles' including police attending the incident. Greater Manchester Police have also been approached for more information. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At just before 8.50pm today (Wednesday May 8) nine fire engines from across Greater Manchester plus the technical response unit from Ashton fire station and the incident command unit from Rochdale fire station attended reports of a fire at an industrial unit in a three-storey mill on Milltown Street, Radcliffe. “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using hose reels to tackle the fire and crews remain in attendance.”
