A cannabis farm was uncovered by police investigating a blaze which led to eight people and a dog having to be rescued from a block of flats.
Police discovered the drugs after being called out to a fire in Bardsley, Oldham, in the early hours of this morning. Eight people and a dog were rescued from the flats on Middlefield, off Keb Lane.
No-one was hurt in the blaze. Greater Manchester Police said no arrests have been made. A spokesperson for the force said: "At around 2.30am this morning (Saturday 18 May 2024), our officers responded to an ongoing fire at Middlefield in Oldham. READ MORE: Man dies and another fighting for life in hospital after horror motorbike crash "Whilst investigating along with our colleagues from Greater Manchester Fire Rescue Service, we came across a cannabis farm inside one of the addresses.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire and no arrests have been made. "Investigations are still ongoing in relation to the cannabis farm with no arrests at this stage." Fire crews worked at the scene for almost three hours.
