Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell (born December 18, 2001) is an American singer and songwriter. Born and raised in Highland Park, Los Angeles, Eilish began singing at a young age. She gained media attention in 2016, when she uploaded the song "Ocean Eyes" on SoundCloud, subsequently released by Darkroom and Interscope Records. "Ocean Eyes" was written and produced by her brother Finneas, with whom she collaborates on music and live shows. Eilish's debut EP, Don't Smile at Me (2017), reached the top 15 in the US, UK, Canada and Australia.

After two action-packed weeks, filled with gold medals, bulges, bad breakdancing (and even one revoked bronze medal for Team USA), the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics officially comes to a close on Sunday afternoon.

The Olympics Closing Ceremony will be held in Paris’s 800,000-seat Stade de France on Sunday, Aug. 11. The two-hour event will stream live on Peacock.

Titled “Records” and hosted indoors on the 2,800 square meter stage of the Stade de France, the closing ceremony promises “new interpretations” and will “take spectators on a journey through time, both past and future,” organizers stated.

‘Nickel Boys’ Review: Film Version Of Colson Whitehead’s Acclaimed Novel Is Flawed But Artistic Journey To Hell And Back — Telluride Film Festival
I consumed Barry Jenkins’ 10-part limited series adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s The Underground Railroad over the course of a weekend because, basically, I couldn’t stop. It was extraordinary storytelling and filmmaking, if harrowing in its uncompromising depiction of slavery. Whitehead followed that book up with The Nickel Boys in 2019, and like Underground Railroad, won a Pulitzer Prize for it. Based on this, I looked forward to the film version, its title shortened to simply Nickel Boys, especially since it also came from Plan B., producers of The Underground Railroad and Oscar-winning Best Pictures 12 Years A Slave and Moonlight. As it turns out, shortening the title wasn’t the only change in the RaMell Ross screen version that just had its world premiere this weekend at the Telluride Film Festival and will also be opening the New York Film Festival.
