dailyrecord.co.ukHibs sporting director Malky Mackay admits the club could delve into the free agent market after missing out to Luke McCowan to Celtic in a dramatic deadline day at Easter Road.The Easter Road side had chased a deal for the Dundee midfielder all summer, and saw four bids knocked back during the course of the window, the last of which was an estimated £800,000.
Despite continuing their interest into the closing hours of the window, it was the Hoops who were able to secure his signature after paying Dundee a fee of £million to bring McCowan to Glasgow.Hibs were however able to bring in full back Jack Iredale on a permanent transfer from Bolton while versatile midfielder Nectarios Triantis also rejoined the club on a season-long-loan deal from Sunderland.
Speaking to the club's website, former Cardiff City and Ross County boss Mackay said said: "We went into deadline day looking to add two or maybe three players to the group.
It took all day for that to happen for various reasons. "There was one that we were always looking at and involved in actually bidding for.
