Paulo Bernardo insists he’s ready to press the reboot button to pile more Old Firm misery on Rangers. The Celtic midfielder’s first taste of the derby began by thundering home a volley that opened the scoring in a 2-1 triumph last December.
Despite booking his place in the history book, the Portuguese playmaker is adamant a new season against the only credible challengers for their Premiership crown will ensure there’s no dwelling on the past. When Light Blues boss Philippe Clement and his players pull up on Paradise Way this lunchtime, Bernardo has warned the Hoops have no intention of being caught walking down memory lane.
He said: “My first Old Firm game was great. It was my first game against Rangers– and I know how big the game is. So I was very happy, even more with the win.“But although I have great memories of the fixture, this is a different match.
It is another season and we need to do it again.“I got messages from back home after the goal. People talked about that one – now I have to make them talk about the next because every goal against Rangers is special.
