Vinnie Patterson was Home and Away's red Speedo-clad lifeguard – a loveable rogue who, at various time, was also a part-time stripper and high school student.
Other storylines saw Vinnie diagnosed with testicular cancer and become a children's entertainter – Vin-Vin the clown – while he also enjoyed one of the soap's most popular romances with Leah.
Played by Ryan Kwanten from 1997 to 2002, poor Vinnie eventually ended up in prison for fraud when he was framed by a business partner, before soap bosses finally killed off when his character – now under witness protection – when he was said to have died in a farming accident.
But for Sydney native Ryan, the end of his time on Home and Away was only the beginning of an incredible acting career. He moved to the USA and was cast in the teen drama series Summerland, before making it big playing hunky sheriff deputy Jason Stackhouse in the mega-hit vampire drama series True Blood, from 2008 to 2014.
