Hiker airlifted from Scots mountain after injuring head in horror fall

A hiker has been airlifted from a Scots mountain after suffering a head injury during a horror fall.Mountain Rescue teams scrambled to the incident on the Witches Step, the ridge from the top of Caisteal Abhail, on the Isle of Arran, after receiving the alarm at 1.50pm on Saturday, September 7.

Due to the nature of the casualty's injuries, a helicopter was sent from Prestwick to attend the rescue operation.The rescue team treated the hiker before he was flown to the bottom of North Glen Sannox.

He was then passed over to a waiting ambulance.His current condition is unknown. Images from the operation show a rescue helicopter hovering over the mountain before landing on a road.

A statement from Arran Mountain Rescue team reads: "The team were called out by Police Scotland at 1350 for a walker who had fallen and sustained a head injury on the Witches Step.
