Grieving campaigner 'disheartened' over Lanarkshire baby loss unit delays

A campaigning East Kilbride mum has told of her heartbreak over yet another delay to the opening of a baby loss unit she has fought long and hard for.Louise Caldwell says the lack of progress on the specialist ward at Wishaw Maternity Hospital has left her feeling "disheartened" and "deflated".The 40-year-old mum-of-three won a two-year battle to bring dedicated baby loss facilities to the Lanarkshire facility after suffering her own pregnancy loss and has raised thousands of pounds to provide cuddle cots to allow parents more time to grieve.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The opening date was then delayed till December, 2022 then again till summer this year.Louise told Lanarkshire Live the hold up after having such high hopes has left her feeling heartbroken.She said: "It's really disheartening.

I was so full of happiness and joy and excitement that after decades and decades women in the future are going to have a dedicated space to grieve away from the labour ward."I understood the first delay, but the more it continues it's really disappointing.
