Thousands will flock to Aintree on Saturday for the biggest horse race of the year. The Grand National is the showcase event of the meeting which takes at Aintree in Merseyside between April 11 and April 13.
The highlight race itself will take place at 4pm on Saturday with hundreds of millions of people expected to watch around the world.
Overall, 34 runners will compete in the four miles and two-and-a-half furlongs steeplechase. The number has been cut from the previous 40 participants to help reduce the risk of incidents in the race. Previously, the winnings were reduced to £750k during the Covid pandemic in 2021. However, since then it has been increased to a whopping £1m.
