Scotland's 'loneliest' neighbourhood where some residents have 'no close friends'

New research has revealed the "loneliest" neighbourhood in Scotland, where many residents say they have no close friends.A new poll investigated the areas of the country where social isolation is the highest.

Residents in Glasgow North East were found to be most unhappy in terms of their social life. Despite being within it largest city, it is an area of Glasgow where locals struggle the most with loneliness.According to the study, 17 per cent of people living in the area do not have a single close friend.

As reported by Glasgow Live, 40 per cent of participants in the research also said that they were not happy with their lives as a whole.

Approximately 25 per cent also revealed that they do not feel safe walking around Glasgow North East at night.The poll was conducted by The Belonging Forum, which aims to introduce affordable initiatives to help put a stop to social isolation.
