Rangers chief James Bisgrove admits he’d love to keep Graeme Souness involved with the club after the former boss played a key role in recruiting Philippe Clement. The 70-year-old was part of the delegation that carried out interviews last week before settling on the Belgian as their 19th permanent manager.
Bisgrove paid tribute to Souness’ expertise in meeting with the candidates, including Kevin Muscat and Frank Lampard. Souness revealed earlier this year he would discuss a return to the club with Ibrox chiefs only to turn down an ambassadorial role.
But Bisgrove hasn’t given up on keeping him involved and said: “Graeme was brilliant, giving up his time and being part of the process.“We’ve a really strong relationship with Graeme in terms of his involvement with the club.
It’s a conversation and a relationship that I would like to build on, moving forward. He understands better than anyone what it means to sit in that chair as Rangers manager.
