Rangers will unveil a statute to the late legendary boss Walter Smith in the new year. Ibrox chief executive James Bisgrove revealed the timescale at the club’s quarterly fan forum, where manager Philippe Clement was also in attendance, held in New Edmiston House, saying: "The Walter Smith statute will be unveiled into the New Year and will be a special moment for the club."Smith passed away two years ago, aged 73, and on the first anniversary of his death the club announced a statue had been commissioned to commemorate his incredible achievements at the club.

Smith served as as assistant manager, manager, and Chairman, with his spells as manager yielding an incredible 10 top-flight titles, five Scottish Cups and six League Cups.A club statement said at the time: “A boyhood supporter who more than lived the dream, future generations will be met with this new sculpture at the famed Copland Road end of Ibrox Stadium.” And now Bisgrove has updated supporters with the news that it will arrive in 2024.
