Kenny Dalglish knows the pressure is on Philippe Clement to land the first Rangers silverware of the season just a couple of months onto his Ibrox tenure but the Scotland legend insists the Belgian must be judged on the bigger picture of closing the gap on Celtic.The 49-year-old former Genk, Club Brugge and Monaco boss got off to a winning start with a 4-0 rout of Hibs on Saturday and now faces a double header against Hearts - the second of which is the Viaplay Cup semi-final at Hampden on November 5.
The winners take on Aberdeen or Hibs in December to lift the first trophy of the season.With holders Celtic out after a shock defeat to Kilmarnock, Dalglish knows it’s a golden opportunity for Clement.
But he has warned the Ibrox club and their fans not to judge him on the outcome of that. Writing in his Sunday Post column, the Liverpool icon said: “There is a level of expectancy on Philippe Clement’s shoulders to deliver the League Cup.
Given that Celtic are out of the tournament and Michael Beale led Rangers to the semi-final, it’s understandable they are clear favourites to win it.“But what if he doesn’t?
