Barry Ferguson reckons new Rangers boss Philippe Clement showed a lot of 'character' to walk away from the mega-bucks of Saudi Arabia.The Belgian coach took up the Ibrox hot-seat on Sunday to replace axed Michael Beale, penning his commitment to what he described as a 'project' at Ibrox with a deal until 2027 in Glasgow.
The 49-year-old got straight down to business before he even landed in Scotland and revealed to the Rangers fans that he turned down 'concrete options' to take on the task of revitalising a Scottish Premiership campaign already battered by three defeats.
One of which was reportedly an eye-watering offer from the ever-growing Saudi Pro League with Al-Shabab said to be offering to fork out over £12m in a deal for Clement.
But the former Monaco decided upon reviewing his choices that Ibrox was the one, with the Rangers hierarchy using their powers to bring icon Graeme Souness in to negotiations for the new manager search.And the fact Clement turned down being set for life in Saudi excites former Ibrox skipper and Record Sport columnist Ferguson who believes he's already shown some character.He told Go Radio: "He could go to Saudi Arabia and that's him made for life, but it tells me that he's got a bit about him.
