In turn, Brooks filed a complaint with the District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi Northern Division on Tuesday where he named his accuser and sued her for compensatory and punitive damages, according to court documents obtained by The Post.Brooks said in the docs he wants “compensatory damages” caused by his accuser’s “intentional infliction of emotional distress, defamation, and false light invasion of privacy.”The accuser’s legal team released a statement after her name was included in Brooks’ filing.“Garth Brooks just revealed his true self.
Out of spite and to punish, he publicly named a rape victim,” the statement read, which was obtained by The Post.“With no legal justification, Brooks outed her because he thinks the laws don’t apply to him.
On behalf of our client, we will be moving for maximum sanctions against him immediately,” the legal team added.The Post has reached out to the woman’s legal team for further comment.On Tuesday, Brooks filed an initial complaint where he referred to himself as “John Doe” and his accuser — who allegedly worked for Brooks as a hair stylist in 2019 — as “Jane Roe.” Brooks asked a judge to grant both parties anonymity in the case.
