Jack Gleeson has joined the cast for the BBC reboot of The Famous Five and the actor looks worlds away from his most famous role.The Game of Thrones actor is best known for playing evil Joffrey Baratheon on the HBO series, and is returning to screens as part of the Enid Blyton adaptation.
Jack, 31, sported his signature bleached locks on the award winning fantasy show where his character died a brutal death over nine years ago.In the new show, Jack is set to play Wentworth, and he looks worlds away from the evil blonde child king he shot to fame as.
The Famous Five first aired in 1978 and was based on the Enid Blyton books which followed the adventures of a group of young children – Julian, Dick, Anne, George, and their dog Timmy.The cast has been revealed as Jack stars alongside Elliott Rose as Julian, Kit Rakusen as Dick, Flora Jacoby Richardson as Anne and Diaana Babnicova as George.
James Lance, who played reporter Trent Crimm in Ted Lasso, is playing Quentin, while veteran TV actress Diana Quick has been cast as Mrs Wentworth.Jack previously opened up about why he wanted to retire from acting back in 2014, telling The Independent: "The answer isn’t interesting or long-winded.
