The cost of some popular branded goods at the supermarket has more than doubled in price, according to the latest research figures.

A survey conducted by consumer champion group Which? compared the prices of 79 items over a two-year period to see how much they had changed during the cost of living crisis, reports The Mirror.

The watchdog compared the prices of some well-known branded goods - such as Heinz, Colman's and Lurpak - at six major supermarkets.

The study comes as shoppers across the country have been making the switch from big names to value brands in a bid to help keep their costs down on the weekly supermarket trip.
