Barry Maguire has been confirmed as Hamilton Accies' second summer signing after the former Motherwell midfielder penned a two-year deal to cross the Lanarkshire divide.

The 26-year-old, who started out his career as a youth at New Douglas Park before joining the Fir Park youth setup in 2014, met with the club for initial talks last month and Lanarkshire Live Sport revealed on Monday that Maguire had agreed to join the newly-promoted Championship side. His arrival follows goalkeeper Charlie Albinson, who signed a two-year deal and was announced by the club yesterday, and there are expected to be a few more coming through the door over the coming weeks.Maguire spent the second half of last season on loan at Dundee and this term he had been on loan at English National League side Kidderminster, with his Fir Park deal expiring at the end of last month.A club statement said Maguire, who has been holidaying in Thailand, will join up with the squad for pre-season training in the coming weeks. After sealing the move for the player, boss John Rankin said: "It's great to get Barry in.

He's a really talented player with a great attitude. You can tell he loves to play and gives you 100 per cent on the park."I'm looking forward to seeing him in the squad.

I think he adds to the already strong competition we have in the middle of the park, but also defensively where he can be versatile and slip into the back line comfortably."Fans could get their first glimpse of the latest recruit when Accies kick-off their pre-season friendlies on Saturday, June 29.
