Firefighters scrambled to car fire on M60

Emergency services were scrambled to the M60 after receiving reports of a vehicle fire. Fire crews rushed to an area of the M60 between junction 22 (Oldham) and 23 (Ashton) just after 2pm this afternoon.

Three fire engines were called and crews spent around 40 minutes at the scene . Images from the scene show firefighters pulling a hose from their engine to tackle the car fire on the hard shoulder. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just after 2pm on Sunday 3 March, GMFRS crews were called to reports of a vehicle fire on the M60 clockwise between junction 22 and 23. “Three fire engines from Ashton, Oldham and Chadderton quickly attended the incident.

Firefighters helped make the vehicle safe before handing it over to National Highways. GMFRS crews were at the scene for about 40 minutes.”
