Fifth man arrested over Southport riots after police 'recognise him' from footage
manchestereveningnews.co.ukA fifth man has been arrested in connection with the riots in Southport on Tuesday. Merseyside Police said they recognised the suspect from footage of the disorder after being called to a separate incident.
A 39-year-old man from Southport has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, threats to kill and a racially aggravated public order offence, the force said.
He has since been conditionally bailed. He is alleged to have thrown rocks at officers and struck a police van during the chaos, which broke out after a peaceful vigil for the three young girls killed in a brutal knife attack.
A 17-year-old has since been charged with murder.
