A Ferrari F50 owned from new by Rod Stewart is up for auction. The Da Ya Think I'm Sexy? singer took delivery of the 202mph dream car in 1997.

It would have set back the motor-mad crooner, 78, around £390k at the time, but its rarity means the current anonymous owner could make up to £3m.Its engine is described as "race-derived", featuring a 4.7-litre V12, producing 513bhp and 347lb-ft of torque. The odometer shows just 10,998 miles from new, and the car is offered fresh from an annual service and clutch replacement carried out in August 2023.Accompanying the sale is the Ferrari Classiche ‘red folder’, plus an impressive history file that includes an original registration document showing the car registered to Stewart at the well-known Wood House estate in Epping.A copy of the warranty book page shows it assigned to Rod in June 1997, and a raft of previous maintenance documentation.Ed Callow of Collecting Cars says: "F50s have rocketed in value since Sir Rod Stewart owned this one, and I would not be surprised if it makes north of £3 million."Collecting Cars add: "This Ferrari F50 represents a fantastic opportunity to acquire one of Maranello’s greatest ever driver’s cars."Not only that, but it boasts desirable early provenance having been first owned by Rod Stewart, and comes with an impressive history file as summarised above."Dubbed by some as 'a road-legal F1 car with two seats', the F50 offers incredible performance with an immersive driving experience, and this particular car is offered freshly serviced and ready to thrill on the open road."The online auction ends 12 November.
