The family of a Scots teen placed in a coma after falling ill on holiday in Spain have made a desperate plea to help get her home with "crippling costs" now hitting £33,000.

Bryony Duthie from Dundee was put in an induced coma at a private hospital in Costa Del Sol on Sunday. Despite being revived for a short time, she suffered another seizure and had to be put back in a coma on Wednesday while remaining on life support. The 18-year-old's family say the teen's condition has "worsened" with tests indicating she could have brain damage and her kidneys not working at all.

Doctors recommend Bryony returns to Scotland as soon as possible with her heartbroken family appealing for financial help online.Stephanie Duthie, 37, Bryony's mother said in a post: "Unfortunately Bryony still remains in a coma in Spain and fighting with everything she’s got but things have worsened.

Her blood levels have worsened to the point the doctor said her kidneys are not working. "They are about to put her back on dialysis.
