Viola Davis has been selected as one of the inaugural members of the President’s Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagement in the United States.

The council is being established to enhance dialog between United States officials and the African Diaspora, the community of African Americans and African immigrants.

It was announced by Vice President Kamala Harris during the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit last year. The council includes up to 12 members appointed by the Secretary of State, and include individuals from government, sports, creative industries, business, academia, social work and faith-based activities.
