Burnley manager Vincent Kompany suggested that Manchester City played his side at the right time following the visitors' 3-0 opening night victory at Turf Moor, saying his side's showing will be the worst they produce all season.

The newly-promoted Clarets, fresh from winning the Championship title last season, were behind after only three minutes when Erling Haaland struck to put City ahead.

The Norway international fired home from Rodri's ball into the box. Burnley responded well to going behind, but were hit with a suckerpunch by Pep Guardiola's side.
