Evri issues phishing scam warning as 'thousands of customers' affected each month

To help prevent further incidents, Evri is urging customers to remain vigilant of signs of possible cyber crime.The warning concerns a type of scam known as phishing, which involve fake texts or emails designed to convince victims into giving out personal information like banking details.
They often masquerade as an organisation you trust, using convincing tactics that include genuine-looking branding and messaging, reports Bristol Live.Evri collaborates with several leading external cybersecurity partners such as Netcraft, Clickatell and the UK Government's National Cyber Security Centre to identify and swiftly remove delivery scams using Evri's name.Evri’s core advice remains the same, which is to look out for in messages:Poor languageA lack of personal greetingUnusual linksHowever, Evri has warned that scammers are becoming more sophisticated and are using techniques to bypass security measures.
The company is alerting consumers to be vigilant for an increase in messages coming via iMessage - Apple's encrypted messaging service, and Rich Communication Services (RCS) - a similar technology used on Google Android devices.These services are intended to replace traditional SMS, offering benefits such as personal privacy, but they also mean that any defences available to Evri's specialist partners, such as flagging text messages for malicious links, don't work.
