Scots are set to see a spectacular sight in the skies as the Eta Aquariid meteor shower is expected to peak within hours.The phenomenon will light up the skies in the early hours of Saturday, May 6, much to the delight of stargazers across Scotland, the UK and the rest of the world.
The display is made up of between 120 and 160 shooting stars per hour, with the Eta Aquariids set to occur when the Earth passes through the debris trail of Comet Halley.
According to the Royal Museums Greenwich (RMG), a leading group of space research facilities in the UK, the spectacular will be most visible on Saturday and Sunday - May 6 and May 7.
According to the experts the shower has been active since April 19 and will continue until May 28, but will peak between midnight and dawn on May 6.
