An Emmerdale legend has quit the show after 17 years on the soap. Matthew Wolfenden, 43, who plays David Metcalfe, will be written out of the show in the coming months.
A TV source told The Sun that the star's character could be killed off. They said: "He hasn’t been getting any gritty storylines recently so wants to see what else is out there....
He’s only just announced he is leaving so scriptwriters are working out his on-screen exit. It’s possible David could be killed off.” The star has played shopkeeper David Metcalfe on the soap since 2006.
In his storylines on the soap, his character become the father to two children Amber and Theo, as well as a father-figure to his former step-son Jacob Gallagher.
