Jai was left stunned earlier this week when he discovered that he is adopted after finding his adoption papers. The first episode of the ITV soap of the week on Monday (June 26) started on a high note for Jai after a mistake whilst booking a holiday for the family led to his girlfriend Laurel Thomas popping the question.
With her proposal delightfully accepted, the newly engaged couple were soon happily discussing the correct order to tell people their news, with Laurel choosing to break the news to step-daughter Gabby Thomas first after she was recently jilted at the alter.
Meanwhile, in order to progress with getting married, Jai realised he needs to retrieve his divorce certificate so heads to find his legal documents but as he rummaged through the drawers, he was left shocked to find papers that revealed he was adopted, before showing them to Laurel. During Tuesday night's trip to the Dales (June 27), Jai was seen arriving back home from an early morning run to a concerned Laurel who told him he couldn't run away from his problems.
