Edinburgh Loganair flight diverted as snow shuts down airport

Snow has caused travel chaos in Scotland in Monday morning with a flight from Edinburgh to Shetland forced to divert back to the capital.

Samburgh Airport has been closed due to snow causing delays across the country. Edinburgh Live reports that Loganair flight LM353 from Edinburgh to Samburgh was set to land in Shetland at 8.45am this morning but instead was forced to divert back.Temperatures have plunged with a yellow weather warning for snow and ice is set to be in place for Scotland throughout the course of the week.

Samburgh airport was forced to close due to the levels of snow in the area on January 15.Samburgh airport was due to reopen later in the morning.After being contacted by Edinburgh Live on Monday morning, a spokesperson for LoganAir said: "Flight LM353 Edinburgh to Sumburgh was diverted back to Edinburgh this morning as Sumburgh Airport was closed due to snow.
