More than 36,200 working age adults across Scotland, England and Wales are currently receiving up to £627.60 every four weeks to help with the additional costs of daily living or mobility needs as a result of diabetes.
Approximately 276,000 people living in Scotland have either Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, yet only 3,899 are claiming additional financial support through Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
Thousands of people living with diabetes may not be aware of the financial support available from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) through PIP, however, those living in Scotland should be aware the benefit is being replaced by Adult Disability Payment (ADP).
The devolved disability benefit will follow similar eligibility criteria and payment rates, but anyone making a new claim for PIP in Scotland should apply for ADP instead - find out more about this here.
