Dunfermline will be treated the same as any team, says title-chasing Airdrie boss

Rhys McCabe insists his Airdrie side won’t treat League One leaders Dunfermline any differently to anybody else when they come calling this weekend.The player-boss is well aware of what is at stake as his side attempt to chip away at a 10-point lead the Pars have over third-placed Diamonds in a home and away double-header.But he insists that even if they win this weekend, there is still a long way to go in the title race.He said: “They are huge games but they are just another game of football, and that’s got to be the message.“We know what’s at stake, in terms of where they are in the league and their position and stuff, but nothing really changes, from our point of view.“Regardless of who is coming here, we’re still in the same position – whether it’s Clyde or Dunfermline, we know what we have to do amongst ourselves.“We’ve got to focus on one game at a time and try to get three points.“If we can get the win it pulls us closer to Dunfermline, but we would still be seven points off, so it changes nothing, really.“We’ve got to keep winning from now until the end of the season, so we’ve just got to keep chipping away, make sure we focus on ourselves, and not worry about other teams and other results.“If we do that and we focus on ourselves and tick one box off at a time, then we’ll not be too far away.Airdrie showed a different side to their game on Saturday as they beat Clyde 1-0 in a battling performance.Charlie Telfer’s 50th-minute strike was enough to get a win that took them up to third in the table.
