A 'dishonest' Greater Manchester Police officer forged a GP sick note to get extra time off, a misconduct hearing was told. The chief constable of the force found Chloe Vose's actions amounted to gross misconduct and said she would have been sacked had she not already resigned.

Chief Constable Stephen Watson said after the hearing: "Her actions were deliberate and carried out in a manner that is dishonest and ultimately damages trust through her deceitfulness." Vose's name has now been added to to the College of Policing's barred list, meaning she can't work for another police force again. She resigned in April this year after the forged note came to light. An accelerated misconduct hearing was held at force HQ in Newton Heath on Thursday.

Vose did not attend or have representation at the hearing. In a statement, the force said: "Evidence showed she reported absent from work as sick in January 2023 and had the relevant note valid for three days. "Three days after she stated she was unwell and would not be returning to work, where she created and provided a fraudulent letter purporting to be from her GP to extend her leave of absence. "Throughout that month she provided emails, screenshots and statements that were dishonest before returning to work at the end of the month where a return-to-work interview was conducted and she denied the allegations after being challenged by supervisors.
