An Encrochat drug dealer has been jailed after making a small fortune in the large-scale supply of illegal drugs - while his girlfriend bought designer clothes and handbags with the profits.

Alan Roberts, 39, was found guilty of supplying cocaine and cannabis to the North West area between February 2019 and June 2021.

Under the name Velvetroyal, he used the encrypted communication network Encrochat to buy, sell, and transport drugs, raking in somewhere between £75,000 and £100,000 in dirty money in the process, Liverpool Echo reported.

His girlfriend Lauren Dineley, 34, reaped the benefits of his offending. She received a £18,000 Golf car in May 2020, and the following month purchased an £87,500 three-bedroom house with a deposit of £21,875.
