Detectives are continuing to question two suspects after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed as he answered the door in a horrific attack.

The schoolboy remains in hospital fighting for his life after the 'sickening' stabbing on Monday evening (February 26). Police revealed yesterday how he was knifed after he answered a knock at the door on Stovell Avenue, on the border of Longsight and Levenshulme, at around 8pm.

Greater Manchester Police launched an investigation and a 41-year-old woman and 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

In an update issued this morning (Wednesday), a spokesperson for the force said the pair remain in custody for further questioning.
