A teenage boy said people were ‘crying’ and ‘panicking’ when a 14-year-old collapsed after being stabbed to the neck. Nathaniel Shani died after being knifed in Harpurhey.
Two boys have gone on trial accused of murder at Manchester Crown Court. Boy A, aged 14, and Boy B, aged 13, both deny the charge.
The pair cannot be named for legal reasons. Jurors have heard that the boys had met in an alleyway off Tavistock Square as part of a ‘fight to settle differences’, after a friend of Nathaniel’s had cannabis stolen from him.
The jury has heard that there is ‘no dispute’ that Boy A stabbed Nathaniel, but he is expected to argue that he was acting in self-defence.
