David Letterman is passing the torch — and it’s not to his “Late Show” successor, Stephen Colbert. In a teaser for the show “Stupid Pet Tricks,” shared exclusively with The Post, Letterman passes the mantle onto Sarah Silverman as he revisits his iconic Top Ten List segment.Hosted by Silverman, 53, and premiering on Sunday at 5 p.m. (across TBS, Discovery, truTV and Animal Planet) after the Puppy Bowl (before its regular time slot of Mondays at 9 p.m.
on TBS), “Stupid Pet Tricks” is a reimagining of the recurring segment that started on Letterman’s “Late Night” show in 1982.
In the sneak peek of the new show, Silverman sits in her office on the Warner Bros. lot with Letterman, 76, sporting his now-iconic post-“Late Show” beard. “David, I just have to say, hosting ‘Stupid Pet Tricks’ is a dream come true,” Silverman tells him. “You know how much I love animals!”“By the way, I didn’t know you love animals,” Letterman replies. “But that’s good.
