One of Scotland’s greatest ever motorcycle racers is set to launch his autobiography. Dalbeattie’s Ian Simpson is a five-times British champion and triple Isle of Man TT winner.
And he’ll be selling and signing copies of his new book, Forever Playboy, at Greens Sports Bar in Dumfries on Friday, August 8 when he will also be the subject of a chat show hosted by Dave Neal from the Off-Track – The Motorcycle Racing Podcast.
A Galloway man born and bred, “Simmo” was keen to have the launch of his autobiography on his native turf. He said: “We’re having it in Dumfries because I can appreciate how good it is to have a motorbike event locally. “There are so many bike racing fans in Dumfries and Galloway, but they don’t get much in the way of biking events on home turf, so it feels nice to put on a wee night for them right on their doorstep, instead of them having to travel hundreds of miles. “We also wanted to give local bike fans a free night out, which is why we’re not charging an admission fee.
All they have to do is buy their beer – and hopefully a copy of the book!” The chat show will take place between 7.30pm and 8.30pm and Ian will be on hand all evening to sign copies of his book.
